science-fridayFREE, Friday Nov 8
Mancos Public Library will be hosting it’s third “Science Friday” on Friday November 8th. The topic is “Cold Exposure: How animal bodies adapt to deal with heat and cold”. The first session is from 10:00-11:30 and is for grades K-3rd. The second session is from 1:00-2:30 and is for grades 4th-8th.

Participants will take a look at the interesting differences in animal design that create strengths and weaknesses that species of animal employ to cope with a cold, as well as a hot environment. Each design consideration is a compromise, and perfection is not possible. Nonetheless, a wide variety of successful animal species that survive cold and heat are testament to nature’s wisdom in establishing a diversity of successful design strategies.
